How to Visit the Baptism Site

The Baptism Site is very easy to get to. It is about a 50 minute drive from Amman or a 20 minute drive from the Dead Sea hotels.

Opening Times and Entrance Fees

November 1st to March 31st: Entry starts at 8:00am. Last entry at 4:00pm.
April 1st to October 31st : Entry starts at 8:00am. Last entry at 5:00pm.

Ramadan: Entry starts at 8:00am. Last entry at 3:00pm.
Entrance fees:

Jordanians: 1 JD

Arab League passport holders: 3 JD

Other nationalities: 12 JD

Children under the age of 12 enter the Baptism Site free of charge.

Cash and major credit cards are accepted.

Dress Code

Although it covers a vast outdoors area, the Baptism Site is a Holy site and must be treated with great respect. For this reason we have a dress code.

For Men

While shirts are preferred, you can go with a t-shirt as long as it doesn't feature any offensive slogans or imagery.
Shoulders shouldn't be exposed.
Shorts are allowed but please ensure they are level with your knees.

For Women

Make sure your shoulders and belly are covered.
If you're wearing a skirt, dress, or pair of shorts, make sure they're at least knee-length.

Standard Visit

Our Standard Visit gives you access to the full Baptism Site with a free local guide and complimentary shuttle bus service included in your entrance fee. You will be taken through the key sacred locations — including Elijah's Hill, the ancient baptism pools, the exact location where Jesus Christ was baptized and the Jordan River viewpoint — with time to pause, reflect, and take photographs along the way. Ideal for families, pilgrims, and people with physical disabilities, this experience typically takes a maximum of two hours
